The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu received here yesterday Dr. Talip Atalay, Head of Religious Affairs for the Turkish Cypriot State Dr. Atalay was on official visit to attend an award ceremony at Madinah entitled "International Award for the Prophet's Sunnah and Contemporary Islamic Studies." During the meeting, Dr. Atalay briefed the Secretary General on cultural and religious activities taking place in Northern Cyprus and also thanked the Secretary General for his tireless efforts of supporting the right cause of Muslims in Northern Cyprus and around the world in general. On his part, the Secretary General reiterated his support once again and stated that cooperation between the OIC and the Turkish Cypriot State, an observer member of the OIC, will continue to be enhanced in all fields, including higher education, cultural, research, sports and economic activities, with a view to putting an end to the unjust isolation of the Turkish Cypriots in the international arena.
