In the framework of the efforts exerted by the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) to defend Al-Quds Al-Sharif and put an end to Israeli plans aimed at judaizing the city, OIC Secretary General Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu has written to the foreign ministers of the UN Security Council permanent members: the United States, the United Kingdom, China, Russia and France. Letters were also sent to the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and the foreign ministers of Germany, Spain, Portugal and Hungary. The Secretary General briefed them on the latest Israeli violations, namely the demolition of the house of the former Mufti of Al-Quds Haj Amine Hussaini and the launching of construction works to build settlements on its ruins. In his letters, the Secretary General called for intervention to stop Israeli violations in Al-Quds Al-Sharif, emphasizing that the illegal occupation of the house of the Mufti and its demolition and construction of a new settlement is a fragrant violation of international law and the Fourth Geneva Convention which prohibits the change by occupation authorities of the features of occupied territories, the seizure of private property and the bringing in of settlers. The Secretary General stated that Israel, the occupying authority, endeavors through these settlement projects to create new realities on the ground by force, to judaize the occupied Al-Quds city and to isolate the city from its Palestinian geographical environment.
