A tectonic earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter Scale hit Gorontalo at 04.36 p.m. local time on Monday. According to the local Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency , the epicenter of the earthquake was located at 0.97 degrees Northern Latitude and 123.32 degrees Eastern Longitude, 39 kilometers northeast of Gorontalo at a depth of 10 kilometers below sea level. However, the earthquake did not have the potential to trigger a tsunami, Indonesia's Antara news agency reported.
