Qa'dah 15, 1431, Oct 23, 2010 SPA -- Prince Turki Al-Faisal, President of King Faisal Center for Islamic Researches and Studies has stressed the keenness of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on making the Middle East, a region of peace and harmony, free from conflicts and all causes of tensions. He also re-affirmed Saudi Arabia's support for efforts to make the Middle East, a region free of nuclear weapons and weapons of mass destruction. In a speech delivered last night at the 19th Annual Conference of the Council of Arab-U.S. Relations, which began in Washington DC on Thursday, he highlighted the wise approach and clear vision in the initiative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Ibn Abdulaziz Al Saud for peace in the Middle East which has gained a consensus from 22 Arab countries and 56 Member States of the Organization of the Conference Islamic, as well as other countries around the world. "However, the United States, which considered the Arab peace initiative, as a cornerstone of the peace, has not pushed Israel to accept it." The Prince reviewed Saudi efforts to achieve Makkah agreement between Palestinian parties, stressing Saudi Arabia's continuing political and material support for the Palestinian Authority led by President Mahmoud Abbas.
