Qa'dah 21, 1431 H/Oct 29, 2010, SPA -- Prince Turki Al-Faisal, Chairman of the Board of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies, reviewed here yesterday the main features of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's history and its distinguished religious and economic status in two lectures at the University of South Florida and the Council of Foreign Relations in the US city of Tampa, Florida. Prince Turki stressed the importance of great historic achievement accomplished by King Abdulaziz Al Saud in establishing Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as Islamic and Arab country as well as independent. Prince Turki also presented the stages of developing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the following decades of establishment phase and successful policies pursued by the Kingdom's leaders in the fields of internal development and external relations where the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia overcame the challenges and circumstances facing the world since the end of World War II. Prince Turki pointed out the earlier attention of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Palestinian cause and the Saudi Keenness to regain the rights of Palestinian people to achieve the security and stability in the Middle East. "The era of the fifties and sixties of the last century witnessed the calls of Nationalism and Socialism on a regional scale, and the conflict of the Cold War on a global scale. During that period, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia called for Islamic solidarity and the establishment of the Organization of Islamic Conference, which includes at the present 57 Islamic states and five observer states, including Russia. The Organization of Islamic Conference has become the largest international organization after the United Nations and played an active role in serving the interests of Islamic countries." --More
