Minister of water and electricity Eng. Abdullah al-Hussein said the experimental operation for the project of bringing water from the Empty Quarter to Najran City has started and pumping will continue up to end of the lunar month of Zil-Qaeda. He noted that the productive capacity of the project will amount to 50,000 cubic meters per day, adding that the project includes digging of 17 wells and pumping stations in addition to the major pumping station in Najran City. The water will pass through a 125 kilometer pipeline with a diameter of 800 millimeter. Cost for the implementation of the project has amounted to SR 377 million.
