NAJRAN: The head of the Water Department in Najran has said that 15,000 cubic meters of water is being pumped out daily from the Rub Al-Khali Empty Quarter project to residential districts of Najran. Salih Hashlan said the move began several days ago and that the amounts being pumped out to the public will increase gradually. Three districts of the city are currently benefiting from the supply, while others wait for their networks to be completed. “The water wells that supply the program are around 130 kilometers away from the east of Najran city,” Hashlan said. “Water is currently being pumped from 17 wells and they will be able to provide 50,000 cubic meters of water a day which will be gathered at the primary pumping station in Al-Nuqaihaa', some 125 kilometers to the east of Najran.” The water is then pumped to the second plant at Khabbash and on to the third at Al-Ruwaikaba, before being transferred to the main pumping plant in the Aal Manjam District.
