The Success of the Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRA) reflects in building trust in accreditation activity and receiving global acceptance in all these years, said Anwar Al Abdullah, The Secretary General of the GCC Standardization Organization ( GSO) Speaking on the occasion of the World Acceptance Day entitled "Global Acceptance, a global initiative jointly established by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) to raise awareness of the importance of accreditation-related activities," he said that the motto was selected in line with the 10th Anniversary ILAC-MRA and the 12th Anniversary IAF-MLA. "The International Committee of Weights and Measures (CIPM), the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and the International Electro technical Commission (IEC), International Organization of Legal Metrology ( OIML), the World Health Organization (WHO) and other international institutions in partnership with ILAC & IAF in vital areas like Metrology and Standardization prove the global acceptance of accreditation," he added The GCC countries have sought to join in the international accreditation institutions by the consolidation of all efforts in this area and moving forward in the process of establishment of the GAC on June 5, 2007 - the Gulf Accreditation Centre, which will join all current accreditation activities in some GCC countries, he noted. With the cooperation of the Australian National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA), the preliminary studies and establishing of GAC is now accomplished and the center will commence its activities as the GAC that has been approved by the Supreme Council of the GCC countries, he concluded. The GCC is made up of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman.
