based Al-Nadwah, in an editorial entitled 'Historical support to the Palestinian Cause', said the Kingdom's support to the Palestinian cause is a historical one, affirming that Riyadh has been giving utmost attention to this vital cause. "At all regional and international forums, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been voicing support to the Palestinian problem to bring about the restoration of the usurped rights of the Palestinians including their right to establish an independent state on their homeland with al-Quds as its capital," the daily noted. The daily believes that the visit of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to the Kingdom and his meeting with the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz demonstrate appreciation for the Kingdom's pioneering role in support of the Palestinian cause. The paper quoted Mahmoud Abbas as saying that the Kingdom has a distinguished role in support of the Palestinian cause and it has been working to realize the aspirations of its people for establishing an independent Palestinian state with al-Quds as its capital. "In view of the swift developments in the region, a great importance will be attached to the visit of Abbas to the Kingdom particularly in the light of the current pressures to resume negotiations. The problem is not resumption of negotiations, but it is the Israeli mentality and its behavior," said the paper, adding that the Kingdom is one of the countries which have been urging the international community to put pressure on Israel until it realizes the true benefits of peace in the Middle East Region. --MORE
