An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale hit North Sumatra province at 05.50 p.m. on Saturday, ANTARA reported. The quake was centered at 42 km southeast of Panyabungan town in North Sumatra at a depth of 10 km beneath the sea level but it caused no tsunami, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said in a report. Earlier, at 06.06 a.m., a magnitude 6.4 earthquake also struck the resort island of Bali. At least eight people were reported injured in the quake. A quake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale also jolted North Maluku at 01.34 p.m. at a depth of 91 km. The quake was centered 117 km southwest of the provincial capital, Ternate.
