Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Secretary General of the General Commission for Tourism and Antiquities, said Monday the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been witnessing a remarkable change in the field of preserving the urban heritage. He hailed the great attention being given by the Saudi Leadership to the urban heritage. In a working paper delivered at the Forum of urban preservation, currently in progress in Amman, he said the achievements attained by the general commission for tourism and antiquities included issuance and implementation of orders for the preservation of the heritage in addition to the preparation of convention of urban heritage in the Arab and Muslim countries and preparation of the system of preserving urban heritage within the framework of the system of antiquities and museums. Prince Sultan bin Salman said the commission has been implementing its plans in cooperation with a number of governmental authorities. He pointed out that the preservation of the urban heritage constitutes an important source for the preservation of the history of the country. "Moreover, it is an important economic resource." --MORE
