Prince Sultan Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz, the Secretary General of the Higher Tourism Commission, said on Saturday, the Commission is currently carrying out plans for the attainment of integration between tourism and urban heritage as well as a number of projects which aim at the development of the rural and urban regions and linking them with a comprehensive tourism development in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Prince Sultan bin Salman made these remarks in an address he delivered yesterday at the inaugural ceremony of the conference in Muscat, which is organized under the title of 'An Urban Vision for Sustainable Tourism', and is hosted by the Omani Tourism Ministry. Prince Sultan bin Salman noted that the Kingdom had prepared two conventions for preservation and development of the urban heritage; one convention for the Arab countries and the other for the Muslim countries. He said the Commission had prepared a plan for the development of antiquities and museums. Prince Sultan bin Salman said the Kingdom includes 6, 366 sites of antiquities, 1, 975 of them relates to urban heritage. Prince Sultan bin Salman left Muscat after participating in the conference's inaugural ceremony. He was seen off by Omani Foreign Minister Yousef bin Alawi and a number of officials.
