CHARLES, THE PRINCE OF WALES, ALONG WITH PRINCE SULTAN BIN SALMAN BIN ABDULAZIZ, THE SECRETARY GENERAL OF THE HIGHER TOURISM COMMISSION, ATTENDED HERE SATURDAY EVENING THE AWARDING CEREMONY OF PRINCE SULTAN BIN SALMAN PRIZE FOR URBAN HERITAGE.
SPEAKING ON THE OCCASION, PRINCE SULTAN BIN SALMAN SAID THE KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA IS NOT THE COUNTRY WHICH HAS BEEN EMPTIED OF HERITAGE AND CIVILIZATION AS SOME PEOPLE THINK, BUT IT IS A COUNTRY OF A DEEP-ROOTED HERITAGE AND CIVILIZATION.
UNDERLINING THE IMPORTANCE OF PRESERVATION THE URBAN HERITAGE, HE SAID THE HIGHER TOURISM COMMISSION HAS BEEN SHOULDERING ITS RESPONSIBILITY IN THIS RESPECT.
PRINCE SULTAN BIN SALMAN POINTED OUT THAT THE HIGHER TOURISM COMMISSION, IN COOPERATION WITH THE MINISTRY OF MUNICIPAL AND RURAL AFFAIRS AND THE UNESCO, HAS BEEN DOING ITS BET TO DEVELOP THE DOWNTOWNS AS WELL AS THE HERITAGE SITES.
ON HIS PART, PRINCE CHARLES UNDERSCORED THE IMPORTANCE OF PRESERVATION OF THE NATIONAL IDENTITY AND CULTURE, AND SAID IT WOULD BE POSSIBLE TO MIX THE PAST WITH THE PRESENT.
LATER PRINCE CHARLES AND PRINCE SULTAN BIN SALMAN OPENED THE URBAN HERITAGE SHOW.
SO MANY PARTIES INCLUDING THE HIGHER TOURISM COMMISSION, THE AGENCY OF ANTIQUITIES AND MUSEUMS, THE HIGHER COMMISSION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF RIYADH, THE HERITAGE ORGANIZATION AND PRINCE CHARLES ORGANIZATION, ARE PARTICIPATING IN THE SHOW.
THE FUNCTION WAS ATTENDED BY A NUMBER OF PRINCES AND SENIOR OFFICIALS.
