An earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale shook Tasikmalaya, West Java Province, on Wednesday at 12.06 am Western Indonesian Time, ANTARA reported. The earthquake's epicenter was located at 8.1 degrees eastern latitude and 107.96 degrees eastern longitude, around 90 km southwest of Tasikmalaya, at a depth of 15 km below sea level, according to information from the meteorology and geophysics office. Indonesia is located in a zone known as the Pacific "ring of fire" which is prone to earthquakes and volcanic activity.
