An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale shook East Java Province, in the wee hours of Friday, at 2.45 am Western Indonesian Time, ANTARA reported. The epicenter of the earthquake was located at 10.6 degrees southern latitude and 113.19 degrees eastern longitude, at a depth of 10 km below the Indian Ocean, around 274 km southwest of Lumajang, or 275 km southwest of Jember, East Java. The earthquake did not have the potential to trigger a tsunami, according to information from the national meteorological and geophysics office here on Friday.
