Deputy Minister of Education for Girl Education Sector Foziah Noman held talks on Sunday with the Japanese mission, which is currently visiting Yemen headed Mazino Kabako, Saba reported. The talks focused on final evaluation for the activities of supporting girl education in Yemen by Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The two sides also discussed positive outcomes of the bridge project for encouraging girls to enroll into schools, which has been started implementation in Taiz governorate since 2006. The project, will be ended next November, targeted 59 schools in six districts of Taiz province. The project achieved 97 percent of enrollment of girls into schools in the six districts, according to the officials of the project. The two sides also agreed that the local authority of Taiz governorate would continue the project and draw its plans and budget to be supported by the government. Noman highlighted Japanese support for the program of girl education in Yemen, wishing continuance of the support in this regard. The Japanese officials confirmed continuing support of Japan for education in Yemen in general and girl education in particular.
