A Saudi medical team, led by Dr. Ameen bin Zaid Al-Harabi, who is also Assistant Professor and Surgery Consultant for Ear, Nose and Throat at the Faculty of Medicine, University Umm-Al-Qura, has recently performed a successful operation to remove a malignant skin tumor in the temple and ear of a 70-year old Iraqi patient. Speaking to the Saudi Press Agency, Dr. Al-Harabi said his team, consists of specialists in various relevant fields, was able during the operation which lasted some 21 hours to overcome difficulties arising before them as a result of the proliferation and large size of the tumor in addition to complications of previous operations undergone by the patient outside the Kingdom including the effect of intensive radiotherapy. He added that the patient is in comfortable stable situation at Al-Noor Specialist Hospital, in Makkah where he has undergone the surgery, thanks to the skilled medical team and advanced medical equipment provided by the Government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, for guaranteeing high level of medical care for citizens, expatriates and visitors of the two holy mosques.
