RIYADH — Saudi Arabia has retained its seat on the Executive Council of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), a position it has held since 1997. This reflects the Kingdom's ongoing efforts to promote international peace and security, including the full implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC). As one of the first signatories to the CWC in 1993, Saudi Arabia has consistently demonstrated its commitment to the global prohibition of all weapons of mass destruction, ensuring compliance with the convention's requirements at both national and international levels. Prince Jalawi bin Turki, Chargé d'Affaires at the Saudi Embassy in the Netherlands and the OPCW, expressed gratitude to friendly and allied nations for supporting the Kingdom's re-election to the council through February 25, 2027. He emphasized that this reflects the confidence of CWC member states in Saudi Arabia's role and effectiveness within the OPCW.
