Tokyo stocks ended higher Friday on a weaker yen but gains were capped by a wait-and-see mood ahead of Japanese firms' earnings reports scheduled for release next week, according to dpa. The Nikkei 225 Stock Average gained 78.15 points, or 0.58 per cent, to close at 13,476.45. The broader Topix index of all first-section issues was also up 10.74 points, or 0.83 per cent, at 1,304.06. For the week, Nikkei rose 1.15 per cent, and Topix also went up 1.99 per cent. On currency markets at midday (0300 GMT), the dollar was quoted at 102.39-44 yen, up from Thursday's 5 pm quote of 101.77-79 yen. A weaker yen makes Japanese products cheaper abroad and helps Japanese companies overseas earnings. The euro was quoted at 1.5885-90 dollars, down from Thursday's 5 pm quote of 1.5971-74 dollars, and at 162.74-79 yen, up from 162.55-59 yen.
