Pakistan and Iran will finalize a memorandum of understanding (MoU) regarding cooperation in the field of environment during the visit of Environment Minister Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat to Tehran in second week of this month, according to an official statement. This was stated in a meeting of Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Masha allah Shakri with the minister. Different aspects of the MoU came under discussion. The two sides also discussed the possibility of mutual cooperation in waste management system. The minister assured the ambassador of Pakistan s full support to environmental initiatives on bilateral, regional and international forums. Under the proposed MoU the two sides would ensure close collaboration in implementation of regional initiatives. The memorandum also lays down the establishment of framework for cooperation in the fields of research, energy efficiency, air pollution, and wild life, biodiversity.
