A BOMB BLAST SUNDAY IN A MARKETPLACE LOCATED IN THE NORTHERN BAGHDAD DISTRICT OF HURREYA INJURED 31 PEOPLE, IRAQI TELEVISION REPORTED. THE STATE-RUN IRAQI TV SAID THAT THE EXPLOSIVE DEVICE HAD BEEN PLANTED BENEATH A CAR NEAR THE MARKET. EYEWITNESSES TOLD DEUTSCHE PRESSE-AGENTUR DPA THAT THE EXPLOSION CAUSED STRUCTURAL DAMAGE TO A NUMBER OF COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS IN THE VICINITY. IRAQI POLICE AND ARMED FORCES RUSHED TO THE SITE OF THE EXPLOSION AND SEALED OFF ALL ROADS LEADING TO AND FROM THE AREA. THE HURREYA BOMBING WAS THE SECOND IN THE IRAQI CAPITAL SUNDAY. EARLIER, A CAR BOMB IN THE CENTRAL DISTRICT OF KARADA KILLED TWO CIVILIANS AND INJURED SEVEN.
