RIYADH — Personal belongings no longer will be an obstacle for worshipers to perform their rituals at the Grand Mosque in Makkah. They can avail of the smart luggage storage service introduced by the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque. There are six luggage collection points at the main gates of the Grand Mosque and the owners can pick it up quickly and safely after the performance of their rituals thanks to an advanced electronic tracking system, based on a smart response code. The new service is available 24 hours a day during the holy month of Ramadan. The service allows worshipers to leave their luggage safely before entering the Grand Mosque. They can pick up luggage at the luggage storage centers and pick-up points at the main doors. Luggage is stored in shelves equipped with continuous monitoring systems to ensure maximum protection. The service features check-in luggage and issues a smart bracelet containing a special code to track luggage electronically. The luggage will be transferred to designated storage areas, which are subject to continuous monitoring with periodic alerts every four hours. The luggage can easily be retrieved by scanning the QR code to verify data matching and receive it safely. The service also ensures accurate data matching and fast delivery mechanism. The luggage storage centers are available near the Makkah Library in the eastern courtyard and opposite Gate No. 64, in the western courtyard in Shobaika.
