Dollar rises, gold falls

The U.S. dollar rose against other major
currencies in European trading Monday. Gold prices fell.
The euro was quoted at US$1.3214, down from US$1.3281
Friday.

_1.2117 Canadian dollars, up from 1.2051
The British pound was quoted at US$1.9027, down from
US$1.9149.
Gold traded in London at US$436.25 bid per troy ounce,
down from US$438.10 on Friday.
In Zurich, the bid price was US$435.40, down from
US$438.50.
Gold fell US$1.20 in Hong Kong to close at US$435.75.
Silver traded in London at US$7.23 bid per troy ounce,
down from US$7.29.
