Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international arenas. Al-Yaum newspaper said in its editorial that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's general budget 2020 was announced yesterday during an extraordinary session of the Cabinet chaired by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, as he emphasized in his opening speech the Kingdom's determination to continue the implementation of the economic reforms, diversifying sources of income, optimizing the use of available resources and empowering the private sector. The paper noted that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques affirmed that this budget is a continuation to the government's policy in developing basic services and facilities for citizens, strengthening social protection programs, ameliorating government services, increasing the level of quality of life and supporting housing plans. Okaz newspaper said in its editorial that the fortieth summit of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states will be held today in a crucial moment in the history of the region, especially since the situation in a number of Arab countries has become a unsteady situation after the Iranian intervention. The paper said that the most important declared axes of the summit include the study of regional and international political developments, the security situation in the region, and its implications for the security and stability of the GCC states.
