Upon the Kingdom's request, a United Nations experts team has visited the Kingdom to be briefed on the measures completed by the ministry of municipal and rural affairs relating to the election of municipal councils. The team held meetings with members of committees supervising the election, specializing working team and international experts contracted by the ministry. During the meetings, they discussed all details of primary preparations including the timetable. The U.N. team noted that election in Riyadh Region will be started early Shawwal instead of the previous schedule in Shaaban and Ramadan because of the coincidence of election with the blessed month of Ramadan. The team was also briefed on the timetable prepared by the Election Committee which divides the Kingdom's into three phases. The first phase covers Riyadh Region. The second includes Regions of Makkah, Madinah, Qassim, Joaf, the Northern Borders, Tabuk, and Hail.
