A woman was killed in crossfire between Indian security forces and militants in Kashmir, police said Saturday. According to dpa, three other civilians were seriously injured as security forces weeded out the rebels from a home in the village of Dialgam, in India-administered Kashmir. The operation was launched upon receiving information that four terrorists, including a top commander of the militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), were holed up there, inspector general of police Munir Khan said. Senior LeT leader Basheer Lashkari, who has been linked to the killing of six Kashmir policemen in the area on June 16, is suspected to be among the rebels in the village of Dialgam in Anantnag district. A 44-year-old woman who was hurt in the crossfire died on way to hospital, Khan said. Three other civilians injured were admitted to a hospital in Jammu and Kashmir state capital Srinagar. All 17 residents of the home in which the terrorists were hiding had been evacuated.
