The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's delegation to the 32nd session of the standing committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for economic and commercial cooperation (COMCEC), led by Minister of Commerce and Investment Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qassabi taking place, in Istanbul, suggested the formation of a task team to review and update the COMCEC strategic plan and introduce new performance assessment indices to guarantee achieving the committee's objectives. Addressing the meeting, Dr. Al-Qassabi said the goals of COMCEC include facing the major economic challenges of our countries and contributing to the developmental efforts being exerted by the member states, promoting and spreading of knowledge, exchanging experiences and the best practices, building joint understanding, and narrowing the gaps on policies of the member countries. Emanating from this and to confront the major economic challenges, the role of the COMCEC is becoming vital, he added. He expressed hope that future meetings of the committee would discuss other vital issues like services trade and industrial integrity among our countries to further enhance the role of free trade zones in the member countries. In conclusion, Al-Qassabi briefed the meeting on the highlights of the Kingdom's vision 2030 which is based on three pillars: Arab, Islamic depth, investment force and exploiting the importance of the Kingdom's strategic geographic site.
