A Philippine judge was shot dead in a cock-fighting arena, six months after he survived an assassination attempt, police said Monday, according to dpa. Judge Reynaldo Espinar, 53, was placing a bet at the arena when the assailant came up behind him and shot him in the head Sunday. The judge died instantly. His bodyguard shot the assailant while he was fleeing, said Senior Inspector Mark Nalda a regional police spokesman in Northern Samar province, 480 kilometres south of Manila. Espinar was the third judge to be killed in the Philippines in three months. Two judges were killed on November 11 and September 1 in separate attacks.
