The living cost index in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia registered slightly higher rate by 0.3% during the month of October 2015, compared to the previous month, as the index registered a rise by 2.4% compared to the corresponding month last year, 2014. The monthly report issued by the Department of Statistics and Information, said that the general index of the cost of living rate in the Kingdom stood at 134.3 in October 2015, up from 133.9 in September 2015, and up from a level of 131.1 in October 2014, recording a rise on a monthly rate by 0.3% based on the rise annual rate by 2.4%. The report attributed the monthly rise of the index to highs witnessed by 10 of the sections in the main components of this index, namely : education section as its index rose by 5.4%, the section of recreation and culture by 0.7%, the section of clothing and footwear by 0.5%, the section of food and beverage, the index rose by 0.3%, the section of home furnishing, equipment and maintenance by 0.3%, the section of health by 0.3%, communications section, followed by 0.2%, the section of restaurants, hotels up 0.2%,the section of housing, water, electricity and gas and other fuels rose by 0.1%, and finally the transport section index rose by 0.1%.
