Jordan's Ministry of Health has registered five deaths and 130 cases of swine flu virus (H1N1) since the beginning of 2015 with the ministry's general secretary Daifallah Lozi saying Jordan has a mortality rate lower than other regional countries. He also said new cases of injuries and deaths may continue, especially among high-risk groups. At a press conference held at the Ministry of Health on Sunday, Daifallah Lozi said, "Cases of infection and deaths due to H1N1 will appear in the coming days, especially among groups with high-risk and kids under the age of 5 years, the elderly over the age of 65 years and those with chronic diseases and kidney cancer and obesity." He added that in case of most of the fatalities due to flu virus were patients who had checked into hospitals late, and were suffering from obesity and respiratory disease, acute pulmonary inflammatory as well as pregnant women. He explained, "Patients with such symptoms would do well to visit the hospitals early as it will help in treatment and recovery. Delay will reduce the curative ratio."
