The Ministry of Health announced today that the first Saudi patient (30 years old) died of Swine Flu (H1 N1) in the Eastern Region on Saturday. In a statement issued here this morning, the Ministry pointed out that the patient was in contact with another case of Swine Flu and he was admitted to a hospital of the private sector in Dammam on Wednesday after suffering from high fever, cough, pain in the throat, shortness of breath, obesity and severe pneumonia. The statement added that the patient was given antibiotics and 'Tami flu'. The Ministry reassured all people that mortality resulting from Swine Flu disease around the world, is still reported to be low compared with the mortality rate of normal flu. The Ministry stressed its keenness on clarifying facts in a transparent manner as regards Swine Flu and providing the media with the latest developments of the situation of this disease and its cases, calling on all people to commit to the Ministry's statements and not to listen and care about rumors and inaccurate and unauthenticated reports published on electronic websites.
