Saudi Slandered, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) signed here today memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with a large number of light vehicles manufacturers, under which the companies committed to apply Saudi standards for fuel economy in the new vehicles (Saudi CAFE), the first of its kind to be launched in the Middle East and Arab region. Addressing the gathering, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Assistant Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources for Petroleum Affairs, who is also Chairman of Saudi Program for Energy Efficiency, said that the Kingdom of Said Arabia is one of the countries with high rates of population growth, and the nature of its geographical land led to increase the demand for land transportation in general, bringing the total of existing roads and those under construction to more than 80,000 kilometers, and the size of the vehicle fleet to about 12,000,000 vehicles. He added that competent team, consisting of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Commerce and industry, Ministry of Transport, and SASO and a number of government bodies, hardworked for two years along with international advisory bodies to set up sub-programs to improve fuel economy in the list of imported light or heavy vehicles, resulting in the approval of 78 companies representing more than (the source of 99.95%) of vehicle sales in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to apply the fuel economy standard for light vehicles. --More 23:54 LOCAL TIME 20:54 GMT تغريد
