TÜV Rheinland Arabia, a subsidiary of German based TÜV Rheinland Group, has been approved by the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) to issues certificates for shipment of imported products to Saudi Arabia. The company has signed with SASO a recognition program which allows it to issue certificates of conformity (CoC) of products that Saudi companies import from other countries. This certificate is a mandatory requirement by Saudi customs to release shipments at Saudi ports. The recognition program was signed in Riyadh in the presence of the Governor of SASO, Dr. Saad AI Kasabi, and the Managing Director of TÜV Rheinland, Muhammad Asif and SASO representatives. The program is a step toward building a trust to ensure that all products that enter into the Saudi market are legitimate and meet the latest safety standards. Together, TÜV Rheinland and SASO will join hands to ensure that imported products are safe for consumption. TÜV Rheinland and other SASO-certified organizations are required to test and inspect products coming into Saudi Arabia at the country of origin before the are shipped to Saudi Arabia. The program aims at reinforcing consumer safety and protection. The entire process for the clearance of the products will be closely monitored by a committee comprised of SASO, Saudi Customs and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to ensure that consumer safety is not compromised. 'TÜV Rheinland in collaboration with SASO looks forward to continue its efforts to ensure the safety of the products and protect the consumers. This will also help the suppliers to ensure that they get safe and authentic products for the consumers' satisfaction," said Muhammad Asif, Managing Director of TÜV Rheinland. — SG
