A 6.1 magnitude earthquake was registered by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) early Sunday morning outside Napa, near San Francisco in northern California, dpa reported. The epicentre was clocked at 3:20 a.m. local time, at a depth of 10.8 kilometres. It was located nine kilometres southwest of Napa, and 81 kilometres north of San Francisco. There were reports of power outages in Napa and Santa Rosa.
