A magnitude-6.2 earthquake rattled southern and central areas of Mexico on Wednesday, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported, but there were no initial reports of damage or injuries, dpa reported. Its epicentre was located 13 kilometres north-west of San Marcos, near the Pacific Coast resort of Acapulco, at a depth of 20 kilometres. The quake shook buildings in the capital, Mexico City, some 400 kilometers away. A magnitude-5.3 aftershock struck some 25 minutes later. Mexico is one of the world's most seismically active regions, according to the USGS, with the movement of three large tectonic plates causing frequent earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. -- SPA 18:45 LOCAL TIME 15:45 GMT تغريد
