The announcement of the accession of historic Jeddah to World Heritage List of UNESCO in the meetings of the World Heritage Committee in its 38th session held in Qatar last Saturday has culminated the great national efforts being exerted to protect and develop the region that has been achieved through an effective partnership among a number of government agencies spearheaded by the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA), Jeddah Secretariat and province, paving the way for Jeddah with its Saudi history to be registered on UNESCO World Heritage List. Attention in historical Jeddah started as of 1926 at the hands of the founder late King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud, followed by the generous patronage of the State during the reign of late King Saud bin Abdulaziz and that of late King Faisal bin Abdulaziz, with the establishment of networks of services of all kinds, government facilities and issuing the archaeology regulation in 1972 which ensured the preservation of historical Jeddah later. --More 12:02 LOCAL TIME 09:02 GMT تغريد
