Firefighters say four children aged between three and 12 have died in a fire at an apartment in a small town in northeastern Spain, AP reported. In a statement Wednesday, Catalonia's regional fire department said five people were also injured in the blaze which occurred on the top floor of a four-story building in the town of El Vendrell, just south of Barcelona. Spanish National Television said the four children and the injured were members of the same family. Details on the cause of the blaze, which broke out late Tuesday, were not disclosed.
