Six persons from a single family died when a fire broke out at their sixth-floor apartment in the Al-Amariya District here early Monday. Neighbors informed the fire services of smoke rising from the 14-story building around dawn and rescue teams wearing breathing equipment broke into the apartment to find the six persons already dead from smoke inhalation. A spokesman for Civil Defense said that five of the victims, two adults and three children, were females. Investigators are trying to establish the cause of the blaze.
