AlQa'dah 18, 1434, Sep 24, 2013, SPA -- Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs Nasser Judeh took part on Tuesday in a consultative meeting of Arab foreign ministers in New York, held on the sidelines of the 68th Session of the UN General Assembly. Judeh highlighted Jordan's stance which calls for finding a political solution to the Syrian crisis that preserves the country's unity and security. The minister spoke about the humanitarian repercussions of the Syrian crisis, mainly on Jordan, which hosts around 600,000 Syrian refugees and provides them with services despite the challenges that its own economy is facing, Jordan News Agency (Petra) reported. He urged the international community to shoulder its responsibility to enable Jordan to continue playing its humanitarian role towards the refugees. Judeh said the establishment of an independent Palestinian state is a top Jordanian national interest, noting that final status issues, including Jerusalem, security, water, borders and refugees, are linked to Jordan's vital interests. The minister voiced Jordan's concern over the repeated Israeli provocations in occupied East Jerusalem, adding that such acts would undermine the peace efforts.
