Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeea, Minister of Health, who is also leader of the medical team assigned for twins separation surgeries, was reassured today over the situation of Abdullah and Salman, the Saudi Siamese twins who have successfully undergone a surgical separation at King Abdulaziz Medical City of the National Guard in Riyadh. In a press statement following the visit, which took place 48 hours after the operation, that the "twins are still under the effect of sterilization. They are still under close monitoring and that their situation is stable. All their organs are doing well with no indications of infections or complications. We expect that during the coming few hours, the medical team will start reducing the artificial respiratory use. However, the twins need to remain on artificial respiratory systems for nearly a week and from two to three weeks in the intesive care unit". He said their parents are very pleased now and expressed grtitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the medical team who performed the operation. The operation, numbering 31st at King Abdulaziz Medical City of the National Guard, was done in nine hours over eight phases last Friday.
