The Director General of the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Abdullah bin Fahd Al-Hussein inaugurated here today a course on the principles of news editing and coverage of events and occasions, organized by the Agency for editors who have recently joined news editing departments in the Agency. The five-day course for 27 editors aims to promote the levels of the employees of the Agency in journalistic skills in political, economic, cultural , social, and sports fields. In his opening speech, SPA Director General urged editors to exert more efforts and engage in varied activities in the field of news editing, opt for the depth of information mechanisms of news industry, and work hard to develop them further for professional transmission to local and foreign media organs via "SPA" web-site. He urged the trainees to benefit from training opportunities offered by the Saudi Press Agency periodically either within the Agency or through cooperation with other sectors involved in the field of Information at home and abroad and to benefit from the expertise of their colleagues- editors who have worked in "SPA" for many years, and set honorable models in the fields of journalism. Al-Hussein congratulated the trainees on the royal decision to transform "SPA" into a corporation, wishing that everyone shall be aware of the importance of this information leap and its positive impacts on upgrading the media works. In another speech, the Director General of News Department Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Awadh urged the trainees to benefit from this course and what it provides in the form of mechanism of media works to reach new horizons in dealing with various news contexts in which editors are subject to round the clock during their works in the Agency. He emphasized that the agency provides its editors with various types of support and motivation for the advancement of the personal capabilities of editors to achieve high degrees of perfection of their skills in news industry to broadcast news to the media in a record time.
