Qa'dah 05, 1431, Oct 13, 2010, SPA -- The Information Training Center of the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) concluded today at the Agency's headquarters here, the 3rd course on "Modern methods in editing news and news programs," which was inaugurated by SPA Director General Abdullah Bin Fahd Al-Hussain last Saturday. In his inaugural speech, Al-Hussain emphasized the importance of these courses in enhancing the talents and capabilities of SPA employees, opening the horizons of the reasons for progress in the professional fields, and the importance of taking the courses as ways and starting points for improvement. The five-day course was lectured by Director of Public Relations at the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu (RCJY) Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Abdulqader who talked about the basics of news, and ways of its scientific wording and methods. In his lecture, Dr. Nasser Al-Khaneen dealt with overall news wording and common linguistic errors in the press and ways of avoiding them. On his part, the Director General of News Department at the Saudi Press Agency Ahmad Bin Ibrahim Al-Awadh emphasized the importance of trust for the news editor, how to develop himself in news through follow-up and reading, inquiring from news experts, early preparations to cover events, and the features of a journalist in SPA to achieve success. In another lecture, Deputy Director of SPA External Editing Abdullah bin Mubarak Al-Me'ili spoke about Saudi media in general and making news and identifying its sources in particular.
