Mishal Al-Otaibi Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — The Special Criminal Court in Jeddah on Tuesday sentenced five Saudi terror suspects to jail terms. They included one Daesh (so-called IS) terrorist who disobeyed the rulers by traveling to the conflict zone in Syria and received training in using weapons such as Kalashnikov and grenades. He also joined the Daesh militants and fought along with them for about 40 days. The court sentenced him to 10 years in jail and an equal period of travel ban in addition to fine amounting to SR10,000. The court also awarded jail terms for four others who were convicted of being involved in various terror acts such as disobeying rulers by traveling to conflict zones in Syria and Afghanistan and taking part in fighting along with other terrorists. They were sentenced to jail terms ranging between two and a half years and 17 years in addition to a travel ban. Another suspect was found guilty of using hashish and he will get 80 lashes for the crime. The convicts can appeal the verdict within 30 days.
