MAKKAH — In a municipality crackdown on illegal vendors, 15 African street sellers were arrested for selling food prepared in unlicensed kitchens. The municipality inspectors carried out the raid in Al-Hafayer District behind Queer Courtyard in the city on Sunday. Makkah Municipality Director Waleed Milibary said 3,420 kg of food, including fruit, vegetables and meat, was seized and disposed off. Over 220 plastic containers, 563 pieces of clothing and 600 bags were also seized and destroyed. Milibary added that the municipality has been running frequent and regular inspection campaigns during the past month to ensure that all products made available for foreign and local consumers are safe and legal.
