MAKKAH — The municipality shut down 35 restaurants and food stores and issued warnings to 10 more in Al-Maabidah District of Makkah for violating health regulations during the past month. Al-Maabidah Municipality spokesman Khalid Basfar said the local authority ran thorough inspection campaigns to ensure all food establishments adhere to health regulations. The municipality seized 365 kg of vegetables and other food products and 82 cooking utensils. Basfar added the campaign covered the entire city of Makkah. The most common violations recorded were unsanitary kitchens, food products stored incorrectly and exposed to sunlight and selling food without a license.
