DAMMAM — The International Indian School, Dammam marked the Annual Awards Presentation Ceremony in a colorful event organized at the Boys Section Indoor Hall. A goodly gathering of community members, teachers, student awardees and their parents were present. Hemant Kotalwar, Charge d' Affaires of Embassy of India, Riyadh, was the Chief Guest. Dr Abdussalam Kanniyan, chairman, and members of the Managing Committee Dr. Francis Borgeo, Rasheed Umer C.R. Mohammed Abdul Waris, Dr. Syed Zainul Abiddin, Irfan Iqbal Khan, and Hasnain M Akhtar presented the awards to the meritorious students. Awad Al Maliki, Deputy Director of Foreign and Private Education and Hussein Al Maghboul, Senior Supervisor from the Ministry of Education, too were present to honored the awardee students. Over 300 students who excelled in the Class X & XII CBSE examinations received their honors from the dignitaries. IIS Dammam presented 725 students at the Class XII examination and achieved 99.4% pass results, with 59 students obtaining 90% and above, 190 students scored 80-89% and 191 achieved 70-79% making it the most remarkable result in the Kingdom. Varsha Balachandra Kumar with 97% topped in the Kingdom and Ghouse Mohammad Ebrahim with 96.2% stood second in the Kingdom. Kunhu Hassan with 96% topped the Commerce stream and Sumayya Abdul Gafoor with 94.4% topped in Humanities. The school presented 992, the largest number of students for class X Board Examination and attained a very good result with the largest number of students — 90 of them scoring 10 CGPA, which is the best not only in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia but in the entire Gulf. All of them scored A1 grade in all the subjects. Malabar Gold and Diamonds Group, Joy Alukkas, Sun City Arabia Group, Air India and World Rep sponsored the event and felicitated the meritorious students. Dr Abdussalam, welcomed the guests and the gathering. Dr. E K Mohammed Shaffe, principal and head of the institution, presented the review of the results and Lt. Col. J. A. Rocque, principal in-charge, offered the vote of thanks. Highlight of the event was the cultural programs staged by students from different sections that enthralled the audience. — SG
