JEDDAH – Students of Indian schools in Saudi Arabia have scored excellent results in All India Secondary School Examination (AISSE-Class 10). An analysis of the results announced on Thursday showed almost all schools came out with a 100 percent success rate.
The schools teaching the CBSE curriculum included international Indian schools in Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam, Jubail and Tabuk and many private-run international schools.
According to the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation System (CCE) introduced by the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, 70 percent of the marks are awarded by way of Formative Assessment (FA) and Summative Assessment (SA-1) by the respective schools. The remaining 30 percent is awarded through the year-end SA-2 examination.
The students have the option of choosing either the School-Based Evaluation (SBE) or the Board-Based Evaluation. Accordingly, total marks of students who opt for SBE are awarded by the schools themselves.
Highlights of the results
All the 831 students who had appeared for the examination from International Indian School-Jeddah have been qualified. Thirty girls and 19 boys scored Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 10/10 and A1 grade. After the introduction of CCE, the class 10 examination has become less stressful, said Syed Masood Ahmed, principal of IISJ.
“In contrast to the general trend of students opting for SBE, all 831 students of IISJ had opted for Board-Based SA-2,” he said.
