JEDDAH — The International Indian School, Jeddah, recently held the investiture ceremony of the Student Cabinet for the current academic year. The newly inducted cabinet members, from the IX-XII block in the Boys' Section, were entrusted with responsibilities and duties to lead the school to the pinnacle of success. The program commenced with Mahmood Moiz reciting a few verses from the Noble Quran, which was followed by a translation of the verses by Hamza Mirza. Saravanan and Syed Zaid Ahmed, the CBSE Gulf Sahodaya toppers-2015, welcomed the gathering by presenting bouquets to the chief guest Raquib Qureshi, school observer and head of chancery, and Mohammed Raziq Abdul Vahid, chairman of the Managing Committee, and members of the Managing Committee. Dr. Haroon Rasheed, Ahmed Najeeb Hashmi, Mohammed Mahboob Ali and Mohammed Hyder Ali Quraishi were also present. School Principal Syed Masood Ahmed, in his welcome address, congratulated the newly appointed leaders and reposed faith in their abilities to nurture their leadership qualities and achieve excellence in academics, sports and other co-curricular activities. This was followed by an oath taking ceremony. Dr. Najeeb Qais, vice principal of the Boys' Section, administered the oath of office. Exuding confidence and with hearts full of commitment, the cabinet members led by Head Boy Muhit Masood pledged their loyalty and selfless service to their institution. The young leaders of IISJ vowed to uphold the name of the school and bring more glory and honor to the institution. The head boy promised to explore and exploit the latent talents of fellow IISJians and assist them in realizing their full potential. “Dreams come true when we have the courage to overcome the challenges,” he said. Literary Secretary Farseen Ahmed promised to be a worthy torchbearer of the school by adhering to the values of honesty, perseverance, teamwork and “service before self”. The cabinet members then honored the newly appointed class prefects from Classes IX-XII by giving away the badges. The principal honored the house in-charges by bestowing upon them the responsibility of their respective houses for the current academic year. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Qureshi congratulated the new office bearers and urged them to demonstrate leadership qualities and be role models for their juniors. He stressed the need for bringing vision to reality. “Work as a team and follow footsteps of your predecessors,” Qureshi said. Chairman Abdul Vahid hoped to see the young IISJians work together as a unifying force and bring laurels to the institution. The most anticipated and intriguing event of the day was a Power Point presentation and a short skit performed by the members of the Student Cabinet. The skit brought home the proposition of how today's children promised to be the harbingers of change in the present competitive world. It reminded the children to recognize, honor and appreciate the love and care they receive from society and how their little contribution can bring about a sea change in the lives of others. It brought forth the inspiring message of bringing smiles on others' faces and lending a helping hand in time of need. The school choir team, that included the likes of Reuben Roy and Ashfaq Ashraf, enthralled the audience with several inspirational and captivating numbers. Principal Syed Masood Ahmed, in his address, commended the performance and congratulated the newly appointed cabinet members. He expressed his desire of seeing the young leaders excel in all walks of life. He urged the students to have a clear conscience while delineating their duties. “As you embark upon a new path, let us wish you many moments of success and glory,” Ahmed said. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by the Assistant Head Boy Rizin Ahmed. — SG
