Green House and Red House bagged the overall championship in the IX–XII and VI-VIII blocks respectively in the Annual Athletic Meet 2011-12 for boys of the International Indian School Jeddah (IISJ) here. Green House underlined its supremacy in its section by amassing 229 points while Red House exhibited its might by claiming 148 points. Nikhil Ramesh (Class XI, Red House), Hijaz (Class XI, Blue House) and Muhammed Nihal (Class X, Red House – Under 19), Akash Kumar (Class X, Green House, Under 16), M.A. Hakeem (Class VII, Yellow House, Under 14) and Shahid Chalil (Class VI, Yellow House (Under 12) emerged as the individual champions of the meet. Earlier during the opening ceremony in the morning, Principal Syed Masood Ahmed welcomed the gathering after the recitation from the Holy Qur'an by Syed Mohammed of Class XI. Chief guest Mohammed Khursheed Akhtar, chairman of the managing committee, hoisted the school flag, took the salute of the participants and declared the meet open. Tousif Patel, sports secretary, administered the oath to the participants. The chief guest then lit the sports torch and passed it over to Nikhil Ramesh the individual champion of under 19 in the cluster meet held at Jubail. It was taken for a lap by athletes Faris Ayoob, Mohammed Sami Abdullah and Manush Mohan who took part in the recently concluded CBSE national athletic and football championships. The events began with a spectacular skate display by VI-VIII boys. About 700 athletes from different categories (under 19, U-16, U-14 and U-12 under the umbrella of Red, Blue, Yellow and Green Houses, competed in individual and group events. However, the tug of war between the teachers of VI-XII and the cabinet members of the school stole the show. The teachers team captained by Principal Syed Masood Ahmed won the honors against the cabinet team led by Dawood Arif.
