Asma Kazi JEDDAH — The Indian International School Jeddah (IISJ) organized an investiture ceremony that witnessed the induction of the academic year 2014-15's new cabinet from grade 9 -12. The event commenced with the recitation of a few verses from the Holy Quran. The Literary Secretary Khadeeja Haris welcomed the gathering. Dr. Nazneen Rehman, wife of Deputy Consul General, was the chief guest. She said: "I am very impressed with your performances and I heartily congratulate you for all the achievements." She inspired students to set high goals and aspirations by quoting former President APJ Abdul Kalam, "Having small aim is a crime." Rehman is of the view that students must excel in whatever they choose. School principal Syed Masood Ahmed, Vice principal of girls' section Farhadunnisa, Headmistress of grade 9 -12 Reeta Sharma, and headmistresses of other sections were also present on the occasion. Ahmed said that it was not only a dream come true for the selected cabinet members, but also for the school as they have entrusted the young leaders with the responsibility to take the school to greater heights of excellence in curricular and co-curricular activities. He also stressed on the broader vision of the teachers to nurture leadership qualities from a young age as it would help students in becoming great future leaders. Sharma led the oath taking ceremony of the cabinet members in which they promised to serve the school with utmost sincerity and loyalty, and to uphold the good name of the school. The oath taking ceremony of the prefecture board was led by Head Girl Sumaiya Fatima. She credited her success to her parents and teachers, and motivated students to arm themselves with knowledge and skill to be mentors. An inspirational song “Heal the world” was sung in a melodious voice by the school choir which was followed by a thought-provoking presentation on women leadership. The outgoing house-in-charges were then thanked for their tremendous contributions throughout the year. The spectacular drill displayed by students fascinated the audience. Ex-head girls of the school Maryam Alavi (2009), ZainabSaleem (2011), Tamarah Khan (2013) were also invited. They spoke about their experiences and congratulated the newly appointed cabinet members. The vote of thanks was proposed by Sports Captain Shurooq Mohammed.
